Every year Piccolo Park Centres support Middlemore foundations Jammies in June Drive where we collect kind donations of pyjamas from all our families to help keep kiwi families warm through the winter season. This is but one of the ways in which we give back to our community and encourage empathy and manakitanga with our tamariki.

There are approximately 125,000 children who live in Counties Manukau; 48% of these children live in areas of socio-economic deprivation. Every year this number grows and the Middlemore Foundation plays its part to help keep children warm by collecting PJs for children from 0-18 years of age.

This year’s target for the foundation was 25,000 pairs of pyjamas.

Piccolo Park Centres collected 124 pyjamas across the centres and these have been dropped off at the Panmure library drop off point for delivery to Middlemore. At the end of our drive we all get to spend a day in our Jammies- What a treat, especially with the onset of the colder weather by the end of June this year. The Mt Richmond centre this year decided that they would also have a bake sale this year to raise funds to donate to the foundation too. So after a hard day’s baking and the making of treats with the children, our young entrepreneurs sold their treats to the centre whanau raising a total of $148.00 for donation.

A giving heart is a grateful one and we are truly grateful to all our whanau for their generosity in supporting our drive over the past few years and we look forward to your giving hearts each year as we continue to support the Jammies in June drive.
